I GIVE MYSELF PERMISSION - TO FEEL

What does it mean to bury your feelings? When we bury our feelings, we close ourselves off from our truest emotions. By doing so, we end up closing ourselves off from our truest selves, and from the people around us. Sometimes we don't even know that we're doing it because we're so conditioned to put forward a brave face, stiff upper lip. A face and a demeanour that makes other more comfortable. Maybe it even makes us more comfortable to pretend to just 'be okay.'


The danger of just 'being okay' is that when we bottle up our emotions, whether it's anger, sadness, grief or frustration, eventually, that bottle will pop. We don't stop experiencing these emotions. They are simply supressed, but still churning inside us, desperately trying to escape. This internal battle causes great stress on our physical well-being and can manifests in illness, depression and anxiety lead us to a very unhealthy state of being.


But what about simply staying positive? Isn't that what they, what I, tell you to do?


Allowing yourself to feel your real, raw emotions isn't about dwelling on negativity. It's about addressing your true nature, dealing with their existence, feeling them deeply - so you can let them go.


Today, give yourself permission to feel! Feel it all. Feel the good, the bad, the pain, the hurt, the fear, the unrest, the frustration, the anger, the doubt. Give yourself the permission to be brave enough to face these emotions. Give yourself permission to release.


Take a deep breath in. Feel that breath travel deep into your belly. Feel it making contact with the place that you store all your untapped emotions and repeat today's mantra: I GIVE MYSELF PERMISSION TO FEEL. I GIVE MYSELF PERMISSION TO FEEL. Breathe out with all your might. Feel that breath expel and, with it, let go of everything you've been holding onto. Do this as many times as it takes until you begin to feel lighter and freer of pain. Let yourself cry, laugh, dance, sing, scream, feel. Feel grateful for every feeling as it is a part of you and a part of your journey.


Finding the courage to express our emotions leads to better connection with those that we love and with ourselves.
