I GIVE MYSELF PERMISSION - TO FEED MY SOUL
Welcome to Day 25 of the I GIVE MYSELF PERMISSION series on self-love.
Today, I GIVE MYSELF PERMISSION TO FEED MY SOUL.
Have you ever noticed that no one ever says, "you know what would be good for you? Watch more TV". Or, "you should spend more time on the couch" or "maybe you should eat some junk food." I won't bother to point out why these things aren't great recommendations, so why are these are often our chosen default behaviours when we're dealing with feelings of negativity and lack? How have we become conditioned to believe that doing something that isn't good for us is what we should do to feel better?
Let's take it back to the source of the problem. Emotional pain is often the result of feeling overwhelmed. Whether the root cause if regret, grief, loss or worry, these feelings manifest in a sense of feeling powerless, as if our happiness is beyond our control. The worst thing to do in these situations is to relinquish our control further by giving in. If you want your joy to increase, stop feeding the fear and start feeding your soul!
Repeat today's mantra: I GIVE MYSELF PERMISSION TO FEED MY SOUL. I GIVE MYSELF PERMISSION TO FEED MY SOUL.
Here's a few tips on how you can do just that.
Clean up your shit. A clean, uncluttered space helps create space for a clearer mind to flourish. If it doesn't bring you joy, toss it.
Just Breathe. Take a beat. Start taking control of your life by taking control of your breath. Slow it down.
Spend Time in Nature. Get grounded by making contact with the earth. Even petting your dog or cat can help you connect with the energy of the natural world. Hug a tree.
Eat Real Food. Whole, unprocessed, healthy, plant-based foods. Doing what's right for your body will improve your state of mind.
Exercise. Move. Dance. Let the positive energy flow through you and feel the negative energy float away.
Spend Time with People who Make you Happy. Misery loves company, but it also dies when surrounded by joy. Find your happy people.
If you can't find them, make them. Try volunteering or helping someone else. Living in kindness is a great way to find peace and joy in yourself.
Meditate. Go inside yourself and reconnect with spirit. Find comfort in faith, if only faith in yourself.
Read, watch or listen to something that inspires you. Try a TED Talk or podcast produced by someone who has been where you are - and has found a way to happiness. No need to reinvent the wheel. It's okay to learn from others.
Write it down. Try journaling or letter writing. Getting your thoughts on paper can help you get clear on the issues you are facing. Getting it out will immediately lighten your mental load.
Whatever you are facing today, I encourage you to lean into solutions. Everything is connected: Mind, body and spirit. Feed your soul and you'll take the first step toward living an OM SO HAPPY LIFE.
With love,
Namaste.
